LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that government is implementing a comprehensive programme of public welfare and all-out resources are being utilised for the benefit of the masses. He was talking to workers of PML-N on Sunday, says a handout. The CM said that development projects worth billions of rupees are being implemented expeditiously and in a transparent manner, which will result in raising the living standard of the people as well as leave a deep impact on socio-economic progress of the province. He said PML-N under the leadership of its Quaid Nawaz Sharif is engaged in the politics of strengthening democracy and democratic institutions as well as upholding of democratic values and every effort against democracy or constitution will be opposed. The chief minister said PML-N workers who boldly faced oppression and atrocities in the dictatorial era are the precious asset of the party and they will be fully encouraged. He said progress of the country and service of the people is the mission of PML-N and every effort will be made for its achievement. He said timely and quality construction of Shalimar Interchange, Saggian Bridge, Lahore Ring Road Package-6 and other development projects is a proof of this fact. He said a number of welfare programme for the poor are being implemented successfully and lakhs of destitute families are benefiting. He said that low-cost housing schemes are being initiated for shelterless people while 5-maria scheme is being started for the poor people of rural areas. He said distribution of state land among landless cultivators and agri graduates is a revolutionary step of the government which will not only help in increase in agri production but also in the use of modern technology in the farming sector. He said that government has fulfilled a long-standing demand of the people through distribution of proprietary right of 10-Maria plots among 5,300 families free of cost. He said that unprecedented measures have been taken in education and health sector including setting up of Punjab Educational Endowment Fund, establishment of IT labs in 4,283 schools of the province, setting up of Danish schools, promotion of vocational education and information technology and free dialysis facility and medicines in hospitals. He directed party workers to actively participate in the welfare projects of the masses. He welcomed the proposals of party workers regarding various development projects and said that government will spare no effort for the development of the, province and uplift of the masses. He said PML-N will adhere to its agenda of supremacy of constitution and law, stability of democratic institutions, good governance as well as progress of the people and solution of their problems.
