KARACHI Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) have agreed on appointment of neutral administrators in Sindh. In a meeting of Core Committee of PPP and MQM on Sunday, both the parties finalised the decision and developed consensus over their differences on appointment of administrators in the province following scrapping of local government system. Following the core committee meeting of PPP and MQM, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Governor Ishratul Ebad Khan met at the Governor House. The core committee meeting was also attended by Qaim Ali Shah and Ishratul Ebad. Sources said that the meeting reached a consensus regarding the appointment of administrators after the consecutive meetings. However, both parties agreed on introducing a new act by incorporating suitable points of local bodies system of 1979 and SLGO-2001. According to a Press release issued by the Governor House, all the issues were settled through mutual understanding. Both sides agreed on continuation of development projects even after new set-up in place of nazims. It said that various issues including appointment of administrators in the local bodies were discussed and all issues in this regard were settled with mutual understanding. On the occasion, arrangements vis-a-vis Eid Mild-un-Nabi (PBUH), steps taken by the government for security of life and property of people, and ongoing development projects were also discussed. It was decided to take foolproof steps for safeguarding the life and property of people, adding better coordination between police and other law enforcers in this regard would be ensured. It was decided that no obstacle would be tolerated in way of ongoing uplift projects. The meeting showed concern over shortage of water, especially in Thatta and Badin districts. It was said that Chashma-Jhelum Link Canal (CJLC) should be closed down immediately, as Sindh was facing acute water shortage and there was no justification of releasing water into the CJLC. It was stressed that the Water Accord of 1991 should be implemented in letter and spirit. Earlier, The meeting of core committee of PPP and MQM concluded at Chief Minister House. Senior Provincial Minister Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq, Provincial Minister for Local Bodies Agha Siraj Durrani, Law Minister Ayaz Soomro, Sindh Revenue Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Sindh Katchi Abadi Minister Rafique Engineer, CM Advisor Rashid Rabbani and MNA Abdul Qadir Patel represented the PPP while MQM Rabita Committee Deputy Convenor Dr Farooq Sattar, MQM Leader in Sindh Assembly Syed Sardar Ahmed and Town Nazim Gulshan Wasay Jalil attended the meeting from MQM side. According to a handout issued from Chief Minister House, the core committee meeting also reviewed in detail the list of potential administrators.
