150MW wind power plant

KARACHI (APP) Government of Sindh has planned to establish 150 MW of wind power plant in district of Thatta in collaboration with USAID, an official source said here on Monday. At least five locations in Jhimpir and Jatti talukas have been identified by the experts in wind power energy and positive developments in this regard are expected in next week, the official said. The official concerned with the project said that the work will be initiated on the project this year. Moreover, private sector will get an investment share of 51 percent while 49 percent share will be financed by the Federal Government to provide cheap energy to the local people who are already facing electricity shortage. The official further said that a high level delegation of USAID held a detailed meeting with the Sindh CM Syed Qaim Ali Shah last week to finalise the arrangements in this regard and added that the Federal Govt has already signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the USAID. The locations for windmills have been identified after a thorough survey by the experts as district Thattas close proximity with the sea makes it ideal for the project which will enable the people living in coastal areas to avail cheap source of energy.
