Albanian soldier shot dead by Afghan police

TIRANA  - One Albanian soldier was shot dead and another lay in a coma after Afghan police opened fire on them near the southern city of Kandahar, Albania’s defence ministry said Monday, revising an earlier toll.
The ministry had earlier reported that two soldiers had died. The soldiers had been attending the inauguration of two schools near Kandahar.
Eleven Afghan policemen have been arrested over the incident in the village of Robot, the ministry added.
Another foreign soldier was wounded, the ministry said, without specifying his nationality.
This was Albania’s first fatal casualty in Afghanistan, where Tirana has contributed 260 men to Nato-led forces.
