Pentangular Cup final heads towards draw


LAHORE – Superb knocks from Haris Sohail and M Ayub helped Punjab to pose an imposing total of 367-6 in the second innings on the day four of the Faysal Bank Pentangular Cup (first class) final here at the Gaddafi Stadium.
Punjab resumed their second innings with the overnight score of 30 runs for no loss and added 337 more runs to make it 367 for the loss of six wickets in 74 overs. Haris played brilliant innings of 150 runs in 140 balls with the help of 24 fours and three sixes. M Ayub also played superbly and scored impressive 123 runs off 153 balls wrapped with 15 fours. M Zohaib remained unbeaten with 36 runs. Taufeeq Umer scored 26 runs. Tabish Khan got 2-98 and Tanveer Ahmed 2-58.
Former Test cricketer Imtiaz Ahmed will be the chief guest on the prize distribution ceremony of the final of Faysal Bank Pentangular Cup which will be held today (Wednesday). The prize distribution ceremony will be held after the completion of the match. Trophies will be given to both winner and runner-up teams.
The winner of the event will receive Rs 1,000,000, runners-up Rs 500,000, man of the final match Rs 50,000 while individual performers of the tournament Rs 200,000.
