PESHAWAR - The city police foiled a major smuggling bid recovering 80-kg narcotics worth million of rupees at Sir Band Check Post here on Tuesday.

Police sources said that the chief capital city police was informed by their sources regarding smuggling of a huge cache of narcotics.

They said the chief of city police Imtiaz Altaf constituted a team under the headship of SSP operation Tahir Ayub and Station House Officer Sirband to block the Dia Sango road of Sirband area.

Meanwhile a truck bearing registration number PE-4392 was intercepted and after searching its cavities, police recovered huge quantity of 80 Kilogram narcotics and hashish.

Police arrested two alleged smugglers identified as Mohammad Haleem, son of Hassan Khan, and Inamullah, son of Falak Sher, resident of Lakki Marwat. Police registered FIR and started investigation.

It is worth mentioning here that most of the drugs and narcotics are being smuggled from the restive Bara Tehsil of Khyber Agency while huge reservoirs are also available in Darra Adam Khail and Jamrod from where it is being supplied to other parts of the country.
