KHANEWAL - The district police claimed to have arrested six members of a dacoit gang including ringleader, Tariq Azam and seized loot worth Rs32 million and arms.

Addressing a news conference at his office, District Police Officer Muhammad Waqar Abbasi added that an FIR had been registered under Section 395/412 on the complaint of Muhammad ASif Ali, a resident of Nematpur, Shakkargarh.

On February 13, the complainant’s trailer was snatched when he reached Chak 133/16L. The DPO said that he deputed DSP Mian Chanu Ejaz Masood, SHO Noor Muhammad, SHO, Sheikh Haider and other 12 policemen to interrogate  and  trace vehicle snatcher gang active. The arrested suspects were identified as Tariq Azam of Chitral, Aimar Shiraz of Kalar Syedan Rawalpindi, Nasir Azad of Kalar Syedan Rawalpindi, Mureed Hussain of Bagh Jameri, Kalar Syedan, Rawalpindi, Muhammad Nasir of Mohallah Ahmadabad, Multan and Rab Nawaz of Mitro, Vehari.  The police have also recovered loot worth 32 million from their possession including auto parts consisting 60 cartons, electronics goods 1,074 cartons, vehicle, one Kalashnikov, one pistol 7MM and 26 bullets.
