KARACHI – Five people were killed in separate acts of violence here on Thursday.

A worker of Muttahida Qaumi Movement namely Abdul Salam, 40, was shot dead in Ram Swami area within the remits of Garden police station.

Police officials said that the victim was sitting at his toys shop, where unidentified armed riders shot twice and managed to flee from the scene. The body was taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi for autopsy and later handed over to heirs.

Following the incident, panic engulfed the surrounding areas while heavy contingent of police and Rangers rushed to the area to control any untoward situation.   

A shot dead body of a cop was found from Machar Colony in Docks police precincts. Police said that the victim was identified as 45-year-old Muslim Shah, who was a head constable in Karachi Police. Police suspected that some unknown assailants, after kidnapping, shot him dead.

The body was handed over to family after the completion of medicolegal formalities in CHK. Similarly, a fisherman was found dead from Sumeera Chowk within the limits of Sacchal police station.

Police said that the victim Nabi Baksh, 33, was the resident of Kathore area. He hailed from Gawadar. Police said that SOME unidentified culprits kidnapped him and later threw his body at the said place. The body was handed over to heirs after completing medicolegal formalities at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. 

A man was shot dead at Khush Hal Khan Road within the remits of Ferozabad police station. Police said deceased identified as Ebadad Khan, 30, was sitting at his shoe repairing shop when unidentified armed men riding a motorbike came close to him and opened fire. Resultantly, he sustained multiple bullet injuries and died on the spot. After getting information, police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsy and later handed over to heirs. The motive behind the incident has yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile, a Musqat-bound flight took off from Peshawar and landed in Karachi when a passenger Habibur Rehman lost his consciousness due to drug capsules which leaked in his abdomen.

The plane was landed and Habib was shifted to a private hospital where it was being diagnosed that Habib had drug pills in his abdomen and some of the capsules were busted due to heavy dose. During operation, Habib passed away. Police said that the deceased hailed from Swat and registered a case under Section 69-B.

IGP FOR BEEFING UP SECURITY: The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Sindh, Fayyaz Ahmed Leghari has directed that the security be reinforced.

He was chairing a high level meeting at the Central Police Office (CPO) here on Thursday.

A police statement said that the meeting reviewed the law and order situation. The IGP directed that the security measured be strengthened further. He also instructed that the drive against the criminal elements be beefed up and made effective.

Leghari also sought the performance report of the Karachi police, Crimes Branch, SIU, AVCC, ACLC within 24 hours. He also instructed that there should be proactive policing, the statement added.
