Administrator sacked

KARACHI - Administrator Hussain Syed has been removed from his slot and Commissioner Karachi, Hashim Raza Zaidi got the additional charge of administrator after the revocation of Sindh People Local Government Ordinance 2012.
According to details, decision ahead of the removal has been taken on immediate basis after Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) tabled the bill to restore the local body ordinance of 1979.
Sources privy to the matter revealed that Hussain Syed was considerably close to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement. PPP leadership directed Syed to leave the post of administrator and report as OSD.
Sources said that multiple projects were in progress and removal of Syed would affect the development projects. It is worth mentioning here that scores of the officers of city district government remain confused and wish to know about the future of City government and projects continued in the City.
There were numerous projects including Rapid Bus Service, Circular Railway, signal free roads and completion of Lyari expressway in the pipeline and contractors and foreign investors are also confused. Syed was the administrator was trying to produce the electric city through the recycling of garbage.
Meanwhile, Commissioner Hashim Raza Zaidi has directed that the government rate list of the items of daily use should be conspicuously displayed at the shops. He asked the Deputy Commissioners to ensure the sale of such items in accordance with the government rate list.
Zaidi also instructed them to take action against those indulging in overcharging as well as hoarding.
He also took notice of the fluctuation in the poultry prices and had directed the Additional Commissioner II, Director Mansoor to immediately convene the meeting of representatives of the Sindh Poultry Wholesale and retailers Association.
The Additional Commissioner held a meeting on Thursday to discuss the supply and demand, provision of poultry meat in the metropolis at reasonable rates.
It was decided that the Association would issue rate list approved by the competent authority i.e. Additional Commissioner II Karachi on daily basis.
The same would also be issued to the media on the daily basis, it was further stated. The representatives of the Association assured their cooperation to the Additional Commissioner, the statement added.
