KARACHI (APP) - Faculty and students of Aga Khan University’s (AKU) Department of Community Health Sciences will showcase, share their research and scholarly work at the CHS Research Day.

The current year’s theme is “generating actions from knowledge”. Presentations and deliberations will be aimed to bridge the gap between academic research and policy implications, said a press release issued here on Thursday.

Researchers to make their presentation will also include Dr Abdul Ghaffar, Executive Director, Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research, WHO, Geneva.  His presentation would be focussed on Beyond Knowledge Translation: Role of Academic and Research Institutions. Dr Fauziah Rabbani, from the Community Health Sciences department will talk about Model of a Successful Community-Campus Partnership: Urban Health Programme.

Dr Shehla Zaidi’s presentation would be “Does Contracting out of the Rural Health Centres Increase Access to MNH Services? Preliminary Findings from Research Advocacy Funds Study.” Dr Sarah Saleem, will talk about Life’s Prospects for Pakistani Women; Dr Omrana Pasha on Making Pregnancy Safer for Underprivileged Communities: Global Network Experience; Dr Asaad Nafees, of AKU about Pattern and Predictors for Respiratory Illnesses and Symptoms and Lung Function among Textile Workers in Karachi.

Dr Zafar Fatmi will make his presentation on Association of Air Pollution with Daily Morbidity in Karachi.
