ASJ activists out against leader’s arrest

QUETTA – Dozens of the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat activists Thursday staged a protest demonstration against the arrest of central leader Muhammad Rafiq Mengal.
The protesters shouted slogans and staged a sit-in outside Sariab Police Station, demanding immediate release of their leader.
Mengal was arrested by police three days ago after the Kirani Road suicide blast in which more than 90 people lost their lives.
Addressing the protesters, Maulana Abdul Rahim alleged the administration was conducting raids on religious seminaries and arresting various leaders and activists of the ASJ without any grounds. He said the very act of the administration would further deteriorate law and order situation.
He demanded an immediate release of Mengal and warned of Balochistan-wide protests if their demands were not accepted.
