ISLAMABAD - Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) with an aim to convince major opposition parties including Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) to enter into dialogue with TTP will start parleys in coming weeks.
“Maulana Fazlur Rehman is planning to hold talks with Nawaz Sharif and Munawar Hassan in coming days,” JUI-F Secretary General Maulana Ghafoor Haideri told TheNation.
In the upcoming meetings, Haideri said, JUI-F leader will extend invitation for APC that is scheduled to be held on 28th February. Host of issues will come under discussion in the meeting.
To a question, he said the matter regarding offer of peace talks with TTP as guarantors will also be deliberated. “We will mull over the Taliban’s offer of talks whether or not to accept it, however, we want that the offer should be taken seriously, because the JUI-F believes in resolution of the issue through parleys,” Haideri added.
It is relevant to note here that quite recently TTP had offered peace talks if PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and JI Ameer Syed Munawar Hasan would act as guarantors.
Haideri said the JUI-F had decided to convene the APC on terrorism with the purpose to have a threadbare discussion over the motives and factors involved in fanning terrorism in the country as well as in the region in a bid to formulate a comprehensive and solid strategy to do away with the scourge of terrorism.
ANP, PMAP, BNA, PPP, QWP, JUP and Jamiat Ahle Hadith were formally contacted, which showed their willingness to participate in the conference.
He said the JUI-F would invite all the political and religious forces to the conference and so far several parties had been invited which showed their willingness in this regard.
He said that all the political and religious parties including the PTI would be invited to the APC.
