SADIQABAD - The Punjab governor's pledge, to get the problem of loadshedding and low pressure of gas solved, is yet to be fulfilled even after passing of a period of one month.  In defiance of Governor Syed Ahmad Mehmood's orders, the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited has taken no steps to ensure sufficient gas pressure in the tehsil. The local people demanded transfer of the SNGPL officials and a stern action against them. The victims including M Shafiq, Mushtaq, Farhad, Ghulam Murtaza, Abdul Sattar, Din Muhammad, Abdullah, M Islam and Sabir said that the SNGPL had not solved the problem in spite of the strict direction by the governor. They said that the governor had announced a month ago early solution to the issue but no step had so far been take. But, instead of increasing the gas pressure, the authorities had increased the duration of unannounced loadshedding. And whenever, they added, gas is supplied for a little time, it lacks sufficient pressure, they said. The residents also said that the departments had consigned the governor's directives to the dustbin thereby adding to the people's miseries. The citizens said if he (the governor) had not issued the directives, the situation would have been better that the present one. They demanded that the authorities concerned should take immediate steps to provide relief to the local people.
