KARACHI - Jamaat-e-Islami Sindh Chief Dr Merajul Huda Siddiqui said that government’s decision to restore the Local Bodies Act of 1979 was a triumph of the people of Sindh.
In a statement on Thursday, he said that people never wished for controversial municipal system in the province and the partly announced system was creating distinctions between urban and rural people.
He said that the PPP led corrupt government had failed to facilitate people during five years and gifted the people with extortion, sack-packed bodies, lawlessness, unemployment and inflation.
Criticising both the PPP and MQM, he said that the decision to restore the Local Bodies Act of 1979 in province was also taken to save their interest as the PPP took the decision to safe its stake in rural sindh, while Muttahida MQM, after enjoying the government, was shifting to opposition to get the sympathies of the people in urban Sindh.
