ISLAMABAD - Top seed M Muddasir won the first leg of National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) Junior U-18 Ranking Tennis Series as he remained unbeaten in all the matches here at PTF Tennis Complex on Thursday.

The championship was played on round robin basis. M Muzammil secured runners-up position by winning four matches and losing one. Muddasir also won the doubles title pairing with Ziad Mujahid as they remained unbeaten throughout the event. Kashanul Haq and Hasnain Mahmood were runners-up in the doubles category.

A total of six top players of the country participated in the championship which was sponsored by NBP CSR division. Tournament director Arif Anis said the main aim of conducting this event was to groom the youngsters and provide them an opportunity to showcase their skills at top level.

A total sum of Rs25,000 was distributed as cash prize among the participants. Arif thanked the PTF for extending tennis facilities for organising the event. Director General Pakistan Sports Board Syed Amir Hamza Gilani graced the occasion as chief guest and distributed prizes among the players.
