The Election Commission of Pakistan on Friday clarified that it has not withdrawn the fake degrees’ issue of the parliamentarians.
The ECP stated, “An impression has been created in a section of press that the ECP surrenders on fake degrees issue”.
The ECP clarified that it has not withdrawn the fake degrees’ issue of the parliamentarians. “The ECP is steadfastly determined to implement the judgment of the Supreme Court of Pakistan in letter and spirit and the process of verification of degrees shall be completed so as to achieve the objective of Article 62 and 63 of the Constitution of Pakistan”, ECP stated.
The section of press had created impression through news reports that the ECP has almost surrendered to the pressure from parliamentarians on the issue of unverified degrees of parliamentarians, including highly influential members belonging to both sides of the political divide.
