Rawalpindi - The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) celebrated its raising day with full zeal and enthusiasm here at its headquarters on Saturday.

The event also included wreath laying ceremony for Shuhada (martyrs) and annual performance award ceremony of the year 2014. The event was attended by Director General ANF Major General Khawar Hanif, officials of various ministries, law-enforcement agencies and departments related with ANF, diplomats, university students and serving as well as ex-ANF employees across the country.

The day started with special prayers in the morning. Later formal celebrations commenced by paying tribute to ANF martyrs and a wreath laying ceremony at Shuhada Monument in ANF headquarters. The ceremony was attended by heirs of martyrs as well.

Later, raising day celebrations commenced with a welcome address by DG ANF Major General Khawar Hanif. He thanked all invitees for their arrival and apprised them of performance of the force, especially achievement of 2014.

While addressing the august gathering, the founder of ANF and chief guest Lt Gen (Retd) Salah Uddin  Tirmzi presented historical prospective of the force, increase of drug threat, need for shared responsibility / unified efforts and call for modernisation of the force.

The event subsequently merged with ANF Performance Awards Ceremony 2014, in which Secretary NCD Ghalib Ali Bandesha along with Lieutenant General (Retd) Salah Uddin Tirmzi and Major General Khawar Hanif gave awards to the best performance holders.

Significant facets of awards included operations, training, prosecution, investigation, intelligence, treatment, awareness and volunteer works. The award winners not only included ANF employees, but also other law enforcers, prosecutors, students and volunteer youth.

The raising day has a unique significance of providing a forum for serving/ ex-employees, all stakeholders and associated sectors. Additionally, it also provides an opportunity to acknowledge best performances and communicate/ revive mutual obligations.
