PESHAWAR - ANP Central Leader Ilyas Ahmed Bilour has said that the federal government has not only changed the route of Pak-China economic corridor but also identified location for establishing industrial estates in Punjab province.

Ilyas Bilour, who is also leader of the Businessmen Forum, said that a briefing given to JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman by federal government on the Kashgar-Gawadar route was beyond the fact. “It is a reality the government has diverted the route to Punjab and we have accurate information that the government of Punjab has already identified location for setting up industrial zones alongside the route,” he said in a statement.

Instead of taking a briefing from federal government on Pak-China Economic corridor route, he said that JUI-F Chief Fazlur Rehman must have sit with ANP.  He said that they would have briefed Fazlur Rehman on the actual position about the changes in the route.

By diverting the route, he said, the federal government has totally ignored Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.  He advised Maulana Fazlur Rehman to consult with them before visiting China for a briefing on the matter as they knew more about the changed route of the project.

“I want to give a detailed briefing to Maulana Fazlur Rehman as to how the federal government has kept Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa out of the route,” he explained. Referring to the statement of Maulana Fazlur Rehman wherein JUI-F leader expressed satisfaction over the Kasghar-Gwadar route under the project, Ilyas Bilour said that it would pass through Ratudehro, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan and Faisalabad bypassing Dera Ismail Khan in southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

“Though JUI-F is part of the federal government, yet its leadership was not aware of the changes made to the original route of the project,” he added.

He said that if the provincial government agreed on the new route, the ANP would launch a massive protest against the government for changing it.
