As much as the defeat against India last week hurt, I think what happened yesterday in a lot of ways was worse. It has left everyone numb and speechless. Even though 99 percent of the time every Pakistani has an opinion about what needs to be done to improve the performance of the team, this time they would rather not talk about it. Which says a lot about how depressed people are about yesterday’s loss against the West Indies. Since we would prefer to reserve our comments for the time being, lets see what the experts have been saying. Sourav Ganguly, ex-Indian captain, is of the opinion that the Pakistani team has been in such turmoil in the past few years that not having too much expectation from them is better. Pakistan has not played in their own country for years and has not played in front of a large crowd like other teams, which makes them less competitive. According to Wasim Akram the decision to drop Yasir Shah for Nasir Jamshed was not a wise decision. If six batsmen have not been able to perform then playing seven is not the answer. Shoaib Akhtar blames Misbah Ul Haq for being an extremely cowardly captain and not taking the fight from the top. He has been in form and should come one down and build the platform the team so badly needs. We might agree with one or all of these expert opinions but the fact of the matter is that the situation has gone from bad to worse and something really needs to be done otherwise our team will be coming back home much sooner than we hoped.
