PESHAWAR - Law enforcement agencies arrested three German nationals from University Town area here on Saturday.

Police sources said that three German nationals had taken refuge in a house situated in Park Lane of University Town Peshawar and they had no sufficient documents. The German nationals were identified as Christain Wild, Lorins and Rolf Shmith. Police have confiscated passports of the three persons. During interrogation the German nationals gave some contradictory statements about their identity and said they were personnel of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs).

Sources said that German nationals were involved in suspicious activities and had been staying there for the last several months. Talking to media persons SP Cantt Dr Mian Mohammad Saaed said that arrested Germans had been shifted to Islamabad.

It merits mentioning here that hundreds of offices are present in University Town Peshawar and most of the offices belong to International Rescue Committee and other organisations. Some of the employees working in these organisations are foreigners.

Meanwhile, four Levies personnel injured in a landmine blast at an under-construction security checkpost on Saturday in tehsil Hallemzai of Mohmand Agency. According to political administration, security personnel of the Levies force were passing near the under-construction checkpost at Khanch Chowk, when the explosive device went off.

Local Taliban claimed responsibility for the blast in a telephone call to media.

The law enforcement agencies personnel started a search operation in the area, however, no arrest has so far been made.
