KANGANPUR - Four unidentified dacoits barged into a private bank here the other day but their robbery bid was foiled.

As per details, a band of robbers entered the bank at 12:45 in the afternoon and held the staff and clients hostage.

They were about to rob when Manger Operation Muhammad Ashraf caught one of them, upon which the others opened indiscriminate firing, wounding a man, namely Muhammad Nadeem, son of Muhammad Mancha.

Afterwards, the dacoits detained the staff and customers in the record room and fled away on their bikes.

Being informed about the incident, SHO Ali Hussain Shah accompanied by a heavy police party reached the crime spot.

According to DPO Kasur Syed Khuram Bukhari, surveillance cameras installed on the bank premises, were not working. He said that the guards were also untrained.

The senior police official told the media that banks had been asked to request the Home Department for security. The police have registered a case against the unidentified robbers and initiated a hunt.
