LAHORE – Punjab Assembly Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal has urged the need for strengthening and promoting Islamic values in the country.

Addressing a ceremony held at Khayaban-e-Choora Sharif Canal View here on Saturday, he said that it was the need of the hour to promote the real image of Islam before the world. The ceremony held in regard of “Chadar Orh Tehreek”.

Pir Syed Kabir Ali Shah had started Chadar Orh Tehreek under the patronage of TheNation Editor-in-Chief Majid Nizami a few years before. The movement since then had been attracting the large number of female and it is proving helpful in the promotion of Islamic culture in the country.

MPA Raheela Khadam Hussain, Columnist Ajmal Niazi and people from different walks of life participated in the Saturday’s event and praised the role of Syed Kabir Ali shah for his contribution in making Pakistan a real Islamic welfare state.

Pir Kabir said that through this movement he had focused on young generation since he believed that youngsters were the future of country.

He said that when former president and dictator Pervez Musharraf in the name of enlightened moderation wanted to promote Hindu and European culture in the country, he started Chadar Orh Tehreek under the patronage of Majid Nizami.

Pir Syed Kabir Ali Shah also awarded gold medal to Raheela Khadam Hussain for her contribution in the movement.
