Two more victims of alleged reaction of cardiac medicines died on Sunday, bringing the overall death toll to 28 over the last three days.

The deceased included Muhammad Hussain and Pir Ahmed who were under treatment in Mayo Hospital.

According to details, more than 100 critical patients were being treated at various hospitals of the city as the probe committee fears possibility of adulteration in cardiac medicines.

Sources said the patients died due to low platelet and white blood cell counts after they were given medicines of Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC).

Public as well as private hospitals were receiving patients daily with low platelets, dark complexion, black spots on bodies and bleeding.
