Zaheer grabs Punjab Cup Sr Snooker title


RAWALPINDI – M Zaheer of Lahore became the Dolphin Punjab Cup Senior Snooker Champion after thrashing M Afzal Baba of Gujranwala by seven frames to one in a one-sided affauir in the final here at Dolphin-9 Snooker Club, Rizwan Arcade on late Friday night.
M Zaheer dominated the first two frames winning both with utmost ease and comfort but Afzal Baba bounced back to win the third frame to make it 2-1. This was the signal of the end for Afzal as Zaheer never allowed his opponent of staging comeback. Zaheer won next five frames in a row to cap a memorable night and bagged the Third Dolphin Punjab Cup Senior Snooker Championship. It was over all 20th Punjab Cup Senior Snooker Championship.
Pakistan Billiard and Snooker Association President Alamgir Sheikh and Islamabad Snooker Association President Dr Shahzad Waseem were the guests of honour at the final and later distributed prizes of over Rs0.3 million among the players. M Zaheer was also awarded a return ticket of Dubai from the hosts.
