GUJRANWALA - DCO Najam Ahmad Shah on Monday said that waging a crusade against dengue is a national responsibilty.

He was addressing a special meeting regarding dengue here on Monday. He directed institutions concerned including the Wasa, Health Department, Solid Waste Management, Social Welfare Department and TMAs to develop effective coordination against dengue.

DO-C Waseem Abbas, AC City Syed Sallahuddin, EDO Health Dr Azhar Masood, DO Health Dr Mahjabeen and other representatives of different departments attended the meeting.

On the occasion, the DCO was briefed that anti-dengue medicines were sprayed at 809,671 houses and 18,310 open places during last one year.

“There is a need for continued efforts to ensure complete eradication of dengue and a more effective strategy should be adopted”, DCO said adding an effective anti-dengue campaign would be launched in the first week of February. Different seminars and programmes including a walk will be organised in order to increase public awareness in this regard”, DCO claimed.
