PESHAWAR - Awami National Party Chief, Asafandyar Wali Khan said Monday that terrorism was not an issue only for Awami National Party but it was a problem for the entire country and all the political parties along with their activists of the civil society should join hands to get rid of this menace. 

“The country would not come on the track of development until this issue is not resolved timely, and this would be a wrong conception if anyone links this issue to Awami National Party,” Asfandyar Wali Khan remarked while addressing 25th death anniversary of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan and seventh death Anniversary of Rehbar-e-Tehreek Khan Abdul Wali Khan here at Nishtar Hall on Monday.

Asfandyar Wali Khan said that today they were following the mission of non-violent philosopher Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan and the party to a great extent has fulfilled the dreams of their leaders. He said that some political parties were giving this impression that terrorism was only the issue of ANP but the attacks on Mehran Base, terrorism in Balochistan and attack on GHQ were not against ANP but these attacks were launched against the whole country. He added that this is an open fact that terrorism is a national issue and all the stakeholders should play their respective role to counter this nuisance of militancy.

He maintained that terrorism has claimed lives of thousands of people and government failure in restoration of peace would be disloyalty to the blood of those who have rendered sacrifices in the war against terrorism. He said that all political parties are united on the issue of terrorism in Karachi and they are contact with different political parties for restoration of peace in Karachi. He said that Karachi was not the city of a single community but people belonging to different nationalities were living there. 

Regarding developmental projects in ANP government, Asfandayar Wali Khan said that Awami National Party has completed record developmental schemes in its four-and-a-half years rule and they would be re-elected on the basis of their performance. He said that their opponents are still criticizing ANP but this would decide the time that who would be victorious in the up-coming polls.

Addressing on the occasion Awami National Party Provincial President Afrasiab Khattak paid glowing tributes to Khan Abdul Ghafar Khan and Khan Abdul Wali Khan. He said that the services of Bacha Khan for the cause of Pakhtun nation would be remembered for centuries. He hoped that in the upcoming election ANP would have again the opportunity to serve the masses as the masses are have cognisance regarding four-and-a-half years term of the ANP.
