HAFIZABAD - the rising erosion in River Chenab near Qadriabad barrage has been posing a great threat to the dwellers and has caused demolition of more than ten houses in village Burj Bhian here. The affected villagers appealed to the Punjab Chief Minister to provide them with food and shelter as they were living under the open sky.

According to villagers, more than 30 houses were collapsed during flood this year and the then DCO and MPA visited the affected village to take stock of the loss and damage inflicted to them. They further said that the provincial government had provided Rs75 million for provision of compensation the affected villagers. They however, alleged that the MPA had utilised the grant in some other projects.

They called upon the Punjab Chief Minister to notice their plight and order measures for their rehabilitation and compensation.

They also demanded the Punjab government to take effective steps to tackle the fast erosion in the villages.
