KARACHI - Anti-Extremist Cell of the Crime Investigation Department on Monday night claimed to have arrested four alleged members of outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan from Manghopir locality along with explosives and weapons. The arrested suspects were identified as Abdul Wahid alias Zubair, Kareem Khan alias Malang, Shoaib Alam and Adil Nawab Khan. According to SSP Chaudhry Aslam Khan, the arrests were made after an encounter during a raid conducted on a tip-off.He also claimed to have recovered 30 kilogrammes of explosives, four hand grenades, three Kalashnikovs, three pistols and hundreds of ammunitions from their possession. He said that the arrested militants were involved in several cases of terrorism and extortion including target killings of policemen and collection of extortion money from business community to generate funds for the organisation. They also attacked a private news channel’s team during news coverage in Manghopir area. He further said that the arrested suspects belonged to the Sher Khan group of TTP in Karachi, adding that the suspects were also involved in the bomb attacks in Orangi Town and Abbas Town during Muharram. They also wanted to carry out bomb blasts in Ashura procession in Karachi. Chaudhry Aslam Khan further said that one of them Adil Nawab was also involved in attacking the Bannu jail.
