KESC’s suggestion to DHA

KARACHI - Karachi Electric Supply Company has proposed to the Defence Housing Authority to insert energy conservation guidelines as a mandatory clause for adherence in its bylaws. The core objective behind this suggestion is to transform all developing/under construction residential projects in DHA into “green houses”, especially in the new developing areas of DHA Phase 8 and 9.According to a statement, the KESC conveyed the proposal to the DHA authorities for their consideration and the proposed clause if inserted, would also envisage installation of LED lighting technology at the time of construction of new homes, aimed at saving up to 70pc of electricity (lighting) load in any household on sustainable basis. In addition, it is also proposed that the architects would be required to design structures keeping in mind the provision of adequate light and air.
