LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Monday constituted a 16-member cabinet committee headed by Senior Adviser Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa to maintaining law and order and other arrangements for Eid Miladun Nabi.
Members of the committee included Provincial Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, Minister Auqaf Haji Ehsanuddin Qureshi, Senator Pervaiz Rashid, MPA Col (r) Shuja Khanzada, Advisor to CM Jehanzeb Barki, Chief Secretary Punjab, Secretary Home, IG Police, Secretary Health, Secretary Information and Culture, Secretary Auqaf, Chairman PITB, Additional IG Special Branch and Additional IG PCID while Secretary (I&C) S&GAD will be the Secretary of the committee.
The cabinet committee will hold meetings on daily basis for reviewing arrangements for Eid Miladun Nabi and will submit its report to the Chief Minister Punjab.
Separately, the CM visited Metro Bus project on Monday without protocol and security and reviewed the pace of work. The Chief Minister visited the project from Gajjumata to Muslim Town Flyover and inspected the construction work on Metro Bus project at various places and Kalma Chowk underpass. Chairman Lahore Transport Company Khawaja Ahmed Hasaan, Managing Director Punjab Metro Bus Authority Sibtain Fazle Haleem and Director General LDA Ahad Cheema accompanied him.
The CM said that work was continuing on this public-welfare project round the clock and its completion will change the transport culture. He said that the fare of metro bus would be within the reach of the common man. He directed that adjacent roads and service roads along metro bus route, which were still under construction, should be completed as soon as possible for the benefit of the people.
He said that modern infrastructure was of vital importance for the promotion of economic activities and the Punjab government was spending billions of rupees on infrastructure development in the province. He said that a network of roads, underpasses and bridges was being laid throughout the province.
The CM started his visit from Gulab Devi Hospital and inspected Metro Bus Project from Gajjumata to Muslim Town Flyover. He issued instructions for early completion of development work beneath Muslim Town Flyover. He also inspected under-construction underpasses at Kalma Chowk and said that their completion would improve the flow of traffic.
People were very pleased to see the CM among them and appreciated the launching of Metro Bus Project for their benefit. Expressing their views, they said that by the way Shahbaz Sharif is serving the masses, it seems that the future will be of Pakistan Muslim League-N.
They also prayed for the long life of the Chief Minister for the launching of Metro Bus Project. A citizen passing from Kalma Chowk underpass upon seeing Shahbaz Sharif said that he has proved himself to be ‘Khadime Aala’ in the real sense by serving the masses round the clock.
