Masses urged to reject corrupt, usurpers in polls

DINGA - federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira urged the people to exercise their right to vote wisely and reject the corrupt, looters and usurpers in the upcoming general elections.
Addressing a public gathering in Dinga here the other night, Kaira said that the upcoming general elections would be held on time in a free, fair and transparent manner. All the politicians, including the PPP leaders, PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif, PTI Chairman Imran Khan and Tahirul Qadri also wanted the same,” he pointed out.
He said that it was a historical fact that in the past elections were always rigged to keep the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) out of power. Now, since all the stakeholders want free and fair elections, so these will be held on scheduled time according to the Constitution, he added.
He said that all the political forces would have to make joint efforts to root out terrorism from the country. He also asked the media to discourage the supporters of terrorists.
He urged the people to use their right to vote according to their conscious as it would leave far-reaching effects on the future of the country.
The federal minister regretted that some opposition people were happy over the long march issue. However, the PPP-led government successfully settled the issue, he asserted.
Referring to the achievements of the PPP-led government, he said that the 1973 Constitution was restored to its original form by the incumbent government besides steps taken to overcome the energy crisis and eliminate terrorism. The salaries of government employees were also raised by 150 per cent over the past five years, he added.
Kaira said that the PPP had taken many steps to strengthen the country. Its founder leader Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto through initiating nuclear programme and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto by the missile technology had made the country’s defence invincible, he noted.
