JHANG - The district police gunned down three notorious criminals including a proclaimed offender, who was carrying Rs one million bounty on his head and was a symbol of a reign of terror in the district, in a shootout here the other night.
The PO identified as Muhammad Ramzan alias Ramzani Baloch, son of Majhe, a resident of Chak 175/JJB had been involved in more than 70 cases of murder, dacoity, robbery, kidnapping, illegal arms trade and other heinous crimes while his two accomplices including Amanullah alias Sialvi, son of Ghos Bloch, a resident of Chak 181/JB and Zafar Iqbal, son Sarung Bloch, a resident of Chak 181/JB were also wanted by the police in various cases of heinous nature.
It is to be noted that Ramzani Baloch had killed three police officials in a shootout a month ago. Following the incident, the Jhang DPO formed a police team headed by Sub-Inspector Syed Iram Raza for the arrest of the notorious PO. The team conducted several raids to arrest him but every time he succeeded in managing escape. According to police source, SI Syed Iram Raza Shah, constable Naveedul Hassan and constable Waqar Haider were busy in snap checking at Chiniot Morr when a truck driver told them that six armed dacoits were looting trucks, buses and cars on Jhang-Chiniot Road near Sufi Morr. Acting on the tip-off, SI Syed Iram Raza Shah along with the subordinates rushed to the spot. However, as soon as they reached the scene, the culprits opened indiscriminate firing on them. But the police personnel confronted them bravely. Meanwhile, Jhang Saddr Police SHO Ch Ghazanfar, Elite Force In-charge SI Asad Abbas and Inspector Mian Abid who were on patrol also reinforced them with a contingent of police. The cross-firing lasted for an hour. Resultantly three notorious offenders including Ramzani Baloch, Amanullah and Iftikhar Baloch were killed on the spot while their three other accomplices made good their escape from the scene. The police also recovered a Kalashnikov, 222 bore rifle, one automatic pump action and a bag of cartridge from them.
Later, the police handed over the bodies to the families after autopsy.
Meanwhile, DPO Akhtar Umer Lalika announced cash prizes and commendatory certificate for the raiding police officials.
