LAHORE - Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan has said that search operation against the miscreants is going on and all means conducive to curbing terrorism in the province are being adopted.

Talking to media men at his residence here on Tuesday the minister said that military operation in North Waziristan was in response to the terrorist attacks on security persons in Bannu and their camps. The nation is determined to rout terrorists, said the minister.

The minister said no leniency would be shown in dealing with the terrorists and the government would not budge to any pressure on that score. On talking peace with Taliban, the minister said that a decision to this effect was taken after a national consensus was evolved. He said Punjab government had announced crackdown on the banned outfits involved in spreading sectarian hatred. Rana Sanaullah claimed that evidence had been found about involvement of ‘foreign hands’ in some sectarian killings and the target-killers had also been identified. The minister said the operation against elements spreading sectarian hatred would be launched, as the government could not remain a silent spectator against their activities. He said the government was determined to use every means to curb terrorism and take those fanning sectarianism to task. To a question, Rana Sana said the government had also restricted movement of some leaders of the banned outfits in Punjab. He urged Ulema to identify and throw out miscreants from their ranks and play their due role for ending the militancy and terrorism. To another question on the Rawalpindi tragedy on Ashura, he said the preliminary fact finding report on the incident had been received while report of judicial inquiry was still awaited.
