KASUR-Police have appeared clueless so far about the rapist and murderer of seven-year-old Zainab even on 13th day and have so far failed to announce a major breakthrough in the case except arresting people on suspicion.

According to police, two more suspects including Kashif alias Kashi of College Road locality and Shafiq of Peruwala Road area have been arrested and are being investigated. As far as DNA reports are concerned, at least 800 people have so far been examined out of whom DNA of 540 people could not match Zainab's. Others' DNA reports are awaited.

On the other hand, people have been visiting Zainab's house since January 9 for sympathising with her parents and offering condolence to them over tragic death of their daughter.

The other evening, a candlelight vigil was organised outside Zainab's house by Pakistan People's Party (PPP), civil society and schoolchildren. PPP central leader Ch Manzoor Ahmed was present on the occasion. They also took out a rally from Zainab's house to the place where she had been found dead and prayed for rest of the departed soul in eternal peace.


A 14-year-old boy was allegedly abducted from Mohallah Babri Masjid, Phoolnagar here the other day.

Amjad Ali submitted an application to the Phoolnagar City police that his son Tayyeb Shoaib, 14, went to offer prayer in mosque but did not return. He expressed concerns that his son might have been abducted. Police registered a case and launched investigation.


The dead body of a three to four-month-old minor girl was found at scrubby “Sida Autar” area on Sunday.

According to Chunian Saddr police, some passersby spotted the dead body of the infant near BS Link Canal and informed the police. The police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to Chunian Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem. Further investigation was underway.

Woman, 2 men die in accidents

Three persons including a woman were killed in different road accidents here the other day.

According to police, a woman was killed in collision between two motorbikes near Mustafabad. Aslam was travelling on a motorbike along with his wife Yasmeen. He lost control over the handle of the motorbike and it rammed into a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction. Resultantly, Yasmeen was killed on the spot while Aslam and two others including Tabish and Kashif were injured. Mustafabad police are investigating.

In another incident, a 30-year-old man was crushed to death by Fareed Express Train while crossing railway track near Mauza Noval. The deceased could not be identified. On the other hand, a motorcyclist identified as Shehzad Ahmed was killed after the motorbike he was travelling on was hit head-on by a speeding rickshaw on Dipalpur Road near Talwandi.
