KARACHI - The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday expressed anger at police officers over their poor performance pertaining to the recovery of missing persons.
A SHC bench, headed by Justice Naimtullah Phulputo, heard some petitions filed by the families of missing persons. The court expressed anger over the performance of the police officers and remarked that seven years had passed, but you could get people back.
In which affairs have you been engaged for seven years?, the court expressed anger over the police officials. “You don’t care about missing people,” the court observed.
The family of the missing man Muhammad Zubair stated that seven years had passed after the missing of Muhammad Zubair, but nothing was known about him. The family stated that ten Joint Investigation Teams (JITs) had been made, but Zubair could not be recovered. Another family of missing man Riyastullah Khan stated before the court that at least seven JITs were formed, but its beloved one could not be recovered yet.
“Please tell, what is the condition of our beloved one,” the families of missing man cried before the court. The court sought a progress report from the police officials at the next hearing and also sought the travel history of the missing citizen from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
The court directed the police authorities to immediately recover the missing persons.
