QUETTA - Unidentified assailants gunned down a former Afghan commander in Pishin district, some 80 km away from the provincial capital late Wednesday night. Sources said, former Afghan commander, Muhammad Saleem Khan,45, had come to Balochistan from Afghanistan to visit his relatives at Afghan refugee camp located in Saranan area of Pishin when unidentified armed men opened indiscriminate firing on him that caused his instant death. The incident took place night between Wednesday and Thursday, they added. Levies Force on getting information rushed to the spot and moved the body to hospital for autopsy and later handed over it to heirs after completing legal formalities. The sources said deceased was currently running a private security agency in Afghanistan and had got the contract to provide security to NATO supplies from Spin Boldak to Kandahar. Sources said Muhammad Saleem had played an active role in conducting raids on the hideouts of Taliban after elimination of Taliban regime in Afghanistan in 2001. The body of Muhammad Saleem had been dispatched to Kandahar for burial. Meanwhile, Taliban has claimed responsibility for the killing of former Afghan commander, Muhammad Saleem and said the latter killed many innocent people during action against Taliban in Afghanistan.
