ISLAMABAD (Online) Parliamentary Committee on Judges Appointment during its meeting on Thursday failed to reach a consensus on the recommendations of Judicial Commission of Pakistan regarding appointment of six additional judges of the Peshawar High Court (PHC). Out of six, only two members endorsed the recommendations of judicial commission while four opposed it. The body, which met here with Leader of the House in Senate Syed Nayyar Hussain Bokhari in the chair, could not develop consensus on the recommendations of judicial commission, sources informed Online. On July 6, the JCP in its meeting with Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry in chair, had recommended the appointment of six additional judges for the Peshawar High Court. The commission had recommended the names of Khalid Mahmood, Fazal Haq Abbasi, Nasir Hussain Khan, Waqar Ahmed Shah, Qaiser Rasheed and Malik Azmatullah to be appointed as additional judges at the PHC. The judicial commission then sent its recommendations to the parliamentary committee for consideration. The committee is bound to make a decision on recommendations of the judicial commission within 14 days and after expiry of 14 days the judges would be appointed in accordance with the recommendations of the judicial commission.
