SAMBRIAL - Fruit and vegetable vendors of the Sambrial city have started overcharging the masses before Ramazan. The residents complained that the vendors are violating the rate lists issued by the authorities concerned. Shoppers also complained that overcharging, sale of substandard fruit and vegetables and non-availability of good quality items were order of the day as the concerned officials failed to keep a check on the quality and rates of the commodities. Mazhar Hussain a shopper said that he went to a fruit shop to buy fruit and to his surprise, the shopkeeper charged Rs 20 extra per kg. Shopkeeper Sultan Shah said that the rainy season is impeding fresh supply of fruits and vegetables in local markets from various parts of the country. An official of the department concerned said that the authorities check the prices on regular basis and they are also taking strict actions in case of any malpractice.
