ISLAMABAD Saba Aziz defeated Sarah Mansoor in the inaugural Aisamul Haq Masters Tennis tournament ladies single final here at the PTX Tennis Complex on Thursday. The final proved to be the match of the tournament as Saba Aziz and Sarah Mansoor displayed superb game of tennis. Sarah Mansoor won the first set by 7-6 while Saba Aziz bounced back and won the second set by 6-2 and completely outclassed her opponent Sara in the third and deciding set by 6-0. This was Saba's second title as she also won the title in Karachi. Top seed M Abid Mushtaq annexed the Junior Under-18 title after defeating Usman Rafiq of Lahore in straight sets 6-1, 6-0. He played superb tennis and made a number of cross court and down the lines shots to complete easy victory against Usman. The match lasted for one hour and 20 minutes. The final was supervised by Shahid. Second seed Hasnain Manzoor of Lahore registered the major upset victory in the tournament by defeating favourite and top seed M Mudasir in the under-14 singles final in a thrilling and well-contested match. Hasnain won the first set by 6-4 by breaking the ninth game of Mudasir and also won the second set in the same fashion. Both the players displayed quality tennis from the baseline which was witnessed by a large number of tennis fan. The match lasted for one hour and 45 minutes which was supervised by Zafar Khan. Men's singles final between Aqeel Khan and Jalil Khan will be played at 4 pm today (Friday). After the final match, the prize distribution ceremony will be held.
