WANA (Agencies) A military official has blamed the US for attempting to embarrass Pakistan by delaying information regarding bomb-making factories in the tribal areas. Talking to media persons here on Thursday, Major General Rizwan Akhter, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) in South Waziristan, said that the US was trying to embarrass Pakistan by delaying information about the compounds, which were being used for manufacturing the improvised explosive devices. The US had shared intelligence about the compounds in North and South Waziristan with Pakistan in late May and June. However, when Pakistani forces raided the facilities, the militants had disappeared. Later on June 14, then US Secretary of Defence Robert Gates said the Obama administration was disappointed by the unexplained failure of raids on militant compounds in the tribal areas. Rizwan Akhter said a third force was creating hurdles in Pak-Afghan ties. He also spoke on the South Waziristan situation and underlined the need to win hearts and minds of people to restore peace in the agency. To a question about the issue of foreigners presence in South Waziristan, he said they were not present in most parts of the area but could not confirm their complete elimination.
