Core problem

The new prime minister presided over the first cabinet meeting since assuming his office and set for himself and his team a difficult task of streamlining the power sector and enforcing source deduction of electricity dues from all government departments which default in payments.
In fact, this is the core issue for the nation as people are fed up with prolonged power outages. The new prime minister can do a good job by forcing departments to pay circular debt to Wapda and the KESC. The two organisations mentioned above must also pay their dues to the PSO before acquiring oil. Moreover, plants that are not working properly should be put in order. Dams should be constructed, and the ‘kunda’ system must go. The government should provide gas to the energy sector. Also, the government should buy electricity from Iran and China. By taking rational measures the government can overcome the energy crisis.
