PESHAWAR - Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports and Culture Wing on Sunday opposed the nomination of Sartaj Aziz as a party candidate for presidential election.

The PML-N President and Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif should revise the decision and nominate a real public representative from the KPK for this top slot of the country. Neither Sartaj Aziz is true representative of KPK PML-N, nor does he has been in contact with party’s workers in the province, PML-N KPK Sports and Culture Wing President Mian Alamgir Shah said in a press statement issued here on Sunday in which he expressed shock over the decision and asked the party’s top brass to revive the decision. The PML-N KPK is not lacking shortage of true public representatives for the office. It would have been much better if an accurate genuine public representative is chosen and nominated from the province, he said.

He questioned why the party nominated Sartaj Aziz. He appealed to Premier Mian Nawaz Sharif to revise the decision and nominate a true public representative from the province for the top slot so that to fulfil the demand of party workers and further strengthen the party in the province. Sartaj Aziz is a Pakistani statesman, veteran Pakistan Movement activist, and the professor of economics at the Beaconhouse National University. He served as the 21st finance minister during both first and second terms of Prime minister Nawaz Sharif. His last government assignment was at the foreign ministry.
