MULTAN - Multan Mango Growers Association (MMGA) president Major (retd) Tariq Khan demanded the govt to introduce agri friendly policies.    He said the mango production was 1.7m tone annually with 72pc from Punjab and 28pc from Sindh. A dominant variety of mango from Punjab was “Chounsa- Summer Bahishti” and “Sindheri” from Sindh. Tariq said an export target of mango was 135,000 tone which would be exported while 52pc mango would be exported to the UK, Middle East and Saudi Arabia.

He said mango production would decrease by 30 percent in the recent year due to weather condition.

Tariq said mango festivals and exhibitions should be organized in the foreign countries so that an access to Pakistani mangoes at international markets could be made easily.
