Yawar pledges end to water theft in 60 days

Punjab Irrigation Minister Yawar Zaman has said theft of canal water would not be tolerated and the farmers and official found involved in the practice would be put behind bars after registration of cases against them.
“No one will be allowed to violate rights of small cultivators. To control theft of canal water, the chief engineer canal has been directed to make sub-divisional committees operational. In these committees, assistant commissioner will work under the supervision of SHOs of local police stations. They will be able to check canal water theft in two months across the Punjab,” he said. “The leader of PPP Khursheed Shah should think in line with the national interests rather than to threaten of protests. The present government received empty treasury,” he said addressing a press conference in canal Rest House.
He urged the PPP to show solidarity with the PML-N government for national development, saying that the country was no more tolerant of protests. He claimed that the government had controlled loadshedding to a greater extent. He said that within three months, the situation would be better. The Punjab government was giving a subsidy of Rs3.5 billion under Ramazan package, he said and directed for provision of standard goods at Ramazan bazaars.
TRANSFERS: DPO Raja Basharat Mehmood has transferred SHOs of six police stations. SHO Allah Ditta Bhatti of Shahbore Police was replaced by Rao Dilshad. In station Satgrah, Anwar Ali Inspector has been posted as SHO whereas SHO Satgrah Aslam Pervez has been ordered to report to Police Lines. SHO Ashiq Abid has been posted to the Depalpur City Police, whereas SHO Depalpur Saddr Police Javed Khan has been ordered to report to Police Lines. In his place, Muhammad Ali was posted. Nawab Ali Dogar was posted at Shergarh Police Station and in Thana Gogera, Rana Mushtaq Ahmad has been posted vice Saifulah transferred to Police Lines.
