LAHORE - Jamaat-e-Islami vice-chief Hafiz Muhammad Idrees has strongly condemned the addition of ten new vehicles in the Prime Minister’s security squad, calling it a joke with the people of Pakistan at a time when millions of them are starving.
In a statement issued from Mansora on Tuesday, the JI leader said the new vehicles were estimated to cost Rs500 million to the public exchequer and the burden would be borne by the poor masses already living from hand to mouth.
“The life, property and honour of the citizens are not secure and they are being deprived of basic facilities. However, the rulers think themselves above the law and are spending the public money on their sweet will,” he added.
Idrees said there were already dozens of vehicles in the Prime Minister’s security squad and the huge amount spent on the new vehicles could have been used on the public welfare.
