Corps Commander Multan Lt-Gen Ashfaq Nadem Ahmad has issued instructions to officials concerned for improving flood fighting arrangements as well as adopting precautionary measures. He issued instructions during a high-level meeting held here at Corps Headquarters on Tuesday to review flood situation and arrangements made for coping with any emergency. The Commander was briefed on flood situation in Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, Layyah and Rajanpur districts.
WOMEN, DAUGHTER CRUSHED: A woman and her two year old daughter died in a tragic road accident between a motorbike and trailer here on Vehari Road on Tuesday. Rescue 1122 sources said that the deceased were identified as Natasha, 2, and her mother Tasneem Begum, 26. Witnesses said that the accident took place because of over-speeding. A speeding trailer went out of control of the driver and crushed the motorbike coming from opposite side. Resultantly, the women and the minor riding the motorbike got crushed. The bodies were shifted to Nishtar Hospital for autopsy.
Meanwhile, a fire took place in tent houses of scavengers near vegetable market. The fire fighters from Rescue 1122 and district fire department rushed to the spot and extinguished fire after hectic efforts. No life loss was reported from the site, though a few people received minor burn injuries.
