Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has provided Rs0.5 million for early medical treatment of ailing Muhammad Riaz Butt alias Raju Rocket Pehalwan, the Sialkot based international-famed wrestler.

Adviser to Punjab CM Mansha Ullah Butt visited the house of Raju Rocket Pehalwan and enquired after his health. He also gave him a cheque of Rs0.5 million on behalf of PM Nawaz Sharif. He informed the ailing wrestler that the PM regarded as national hero.

Sialkot based Muhammad Riaz Butt alias Raju Rocket Pehalwan has been living a very miserable life. He has won all the national and international titles and awards. He has played an active role for the promotion of the art of wrestling for 55 years. He had ruled the world of the wrestling in Pakistan for 55 consecutive years and upheld the prestige of Pakistan. He had been the mighty of his time, as the Indian wrestlers had also been reluctant to have fight with him, despite his open challenges.

Talking to the newsmen at his dilapidating house in Sialkot, Raju Rocket Pehalwan (85-year-old) said that he had fought more than 800 wrestling games under the kind supervision of his “Ustaad” (teacher) Sardar Pehalwan in Pakistan (Lahore, Multan, Sialkot and Gujranwala etc) and out of the country (India and Kuwait) and won all these wrestling.

He was conferred upon dozens of national titles of Tamgha Hilal-e-Istaqlal, Sher-e-Punjab, Rustam-e-Multan, Rustam-e-Lahore and Rustam-e-Sialkot. He had fought several free-style wrestling in Indian and Kuwait and won.
