ECP chief annoyed over inappropriate security to candidates

The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), Sardar Mohammad Raza Khan has expressed annoyance over inappropriate security arrangements for candidates despite reports of threats to them.

In a statement he strongly condemned the suicide attack on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Ikramullah Gandapur in Dera Ismail Khan.

Expressing his deep grief and sorrow over martyrdom of PTI candidate Ikramullah Gandapur in DI Khan suicide attack, CEC Sardar Muhammad Raza has sought the report for caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Inspector General Police (IGP) and Chief Secretary.

The CEC directed that foolproof security should be provide to all candidates contesting the general election without any discrimination and an environment of peace must be ensured for holding free, fair and transparent election.

Former provincial minister and PTI candidate from PK-99, Ikramullah Gandapur was martyred and three others were injured in a suicide attack in tehsil Kulachi of DI Khan.
