Unstoppable Fakhar sets new ODI record

BULAWAYO: Pakistani opening batsman Fakhar Zaman has become the quickest batsman to score the fastest1000 runs in one-day international (ODI) history.

Fakhar earned this achievement against Zimbabwe in the fifth and final ODI on Sunday when he came to bat, needing just 20 runs to secure the milestone.

Fakhir Zaman touched this record in just 18 innings, breaking the Sir Viv Richard's record of 21 innings in 1980 and since equalled by Kevin Pietersen, Jonathan Trott, Quinton de Kock and, most recently, Babar Azam.

In the fourth ODI against Zimbabwe on Friday, Fakhir scored an unbeaten 210 runs, hitting five sixes and 24 boundaries in 156 deliveries. He also became the country’s highest scorer in any ODI, surpassing Saeed Anwar’s 21-year old record of 194 runs against India.
