LAHORE - Provincial Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Rana Sanaullah Khan has said accused Hijratullah, involved in the attack on Manawan Police Training Center, has been awarded 10 years imprisonment and the elements criticising the Punjab government by resorting to the baseless propaganda of his release are tarnishing the image of not only Punjab but of the whole country, says a handout. In a statement, Rana Sanaullah said Hijratullah had been awarded 10 years imprisonment for possession of hand-grenade and other weapons and for his presence at the crime scene whereas he had been acquitted on other charge but not released. He said the Punjab government had filed an appeal in the High Court against the decision. He said it was lamentable that persons like Raja Riaz Ahmad who held the office of senior minister was issuing such statements merely for point scoring which could promote terrorism and leave disastrous affect on the society. He said the allegations levelled by PPP against the Punjab government recently of giving assistance to Jamaat-Al-Daawa were the part of same irresponsible politics. He said PPP levelled these allegations despite being in full knowledge of the fact that the aforementioned grant was not given to Daawa but the administrator of the welfare institutions taken over by the government for their operation.
